Flint Hill Firemen were honored with a banquet last Wednesday evening which was given by the Ladies Auxiliary at the fire hall. A country style dinner consisting of old ham and spring chicken was enjoyed by the eighty firemen and guests present. H.S. Barksdale, president of the fire company, was master of ceremonies and the Rev. Edward Pruitt gave the invocation. Following the dinner, Mr. Barksdale welcomed and introduced guests and visitors. He also acknowledged receipt of a check in the amount of $1,200 which had been given the fire company earlier this year by the Ladies Auxiliary.
Rep. John 0. Marsh, Jr., Seventh District Congressman, was a guest speaker, and explained the complexities of the budget of the U.S. He also spoke on the world situation and his remarks will be found in another section of this paper.
