Charles Chapman has been Carillonneur of the Luray Singing Tower since it was dedicated in 1937 and is recognized as one of America’s greatest Carillonneurs. More than 100 compositions by 20 American and foreign composers have been written especially for Mr. Chapman; however, most of the music must be composed and arranged by the Carillonneur himself. “It is necessary for one to continually compose new selections that will be of general interest to the public,” says Mr. Chapman. Each year more than 40 new compositions are included in the recitals.
