Homemaker Annual
Meeting May 1st
The spring meeting of District VIII, Virginia Federation of Home Demonstration Clubs will be held next Thursday, May 1, at Westover Baptist Church in Arlington with the Homemakers clubs of Arlington County as hostesses. The theme of the spring meeting is “The American Woman Yesterday -- Today”.
The group will be welcomed by Arlington County Manager Bert W. Johnson and a greeting extended by Mrs. Maynard Hanson, Jr., Arlington County Chairman. Visitors will be recognized by roll call and a business session will follow. This will include reports, cookbook, Publicity, Scholarship, By-Laws, invitation for next year’s meeting and election of officers. Pennies for Friendship will be handled by the Rappahannock County Clubs.
Dr. Joseph W. Maxwell, Extension Specialist, Family Life and Education, VJM., will be the featured speaker. His topic will be “Eve, Please Pass the Apple.” Dr. Maxwell has degrees from Louisiana College, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Florida State University. He is chairman of the research committee, Southeastern Council on Family Relations and in the past has served on other such committees in Minnesota, Alabama and South Carolina.
Newly elected officers will be installed before adjournment of the meeting.
