Mr. and Mrs. William H. Wood of Las Cruces, New Mexico announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Hunter, to David Morris Altus of Sheridan, Oregon. He is the son of Mr. nd Mrs. Robert W. Altus.
Miss Wood lived with her family in Rappahannock County until 1963 when they moved to Las Cruces. She was graduated from Las Cruces High School where she was active in Concert Orchestra and a member of the National Honor Society. This past May Miss Wood was graduated from New Mexico State University with a B.S. degree in elementary education. While there she participated in University-Civic Symphony and chamber orchestra and was a member of the Student Education Association. She will be employed this fall as a teachei in the University Hills Elementary School in Las Cruces. Mr. Altus is a native of Waco, Texas. He was graduated from Altus High School and attended C Altus Junior College in Altus, Oklahoma. In 1967 he was graduated from Oregon College of Education, Monmouth, Oregon. He is presently doing graduate work on his doctorate in Educational Research at New Mexico State University. Miss Wood is the granddaughter of Mrs. H. G. Wayland of Castleton who is now staying in Silver Spring, Maryland and the late Mr. Wayland; and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Wood of Amissville, Va.
