My desire to be Lieutenant Governor of Virginia springs from a tradition of being of service to my state. I feel that my experience qualifies me for this office. For the past 10 years I have witnessed the great strides made by our state government and I am proud to have been a part of this progress. I want it to continue and wish to make my contribution to its continuity and fruition. The next administration will have to come to grips with hard problems. I am willing to assume the responsibility of helping to make and execute the necessary hard decisions. We must go forward witlt continued improvements in education, in mental health programs, highways, and other vital state services. We must insure a Virginia free of crime, disorders and violence. . .a Virginia where a person feels secure in his person and his property. . a Virginia where everyone can share in the bountiful potential of the future of our state. As a part of the next administration of Virginia, I pledge myself to strive toward the fulfillment of these objectives.
