The 19th annual National Championship Country Music Contest sponsored by the Warrenton-Fauquier Jaycees will be held August 2 and 3 at Lake Whippoorwill near Warrenton. The event offers $2,000 in prize money this year, and will draw some of the top talent in the country.
Guest talent to be featured includes Mac Wiseman for the Saturday show and Jim and Jessie on Sunday. Masters of ceremonies will be Red Shipley and Tom Cat Reeder. The program begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday and at 1 p.m. Sunday. 'Registration opens at 4 p.m. Saturday and at 10 a.m. Sunday. Admission on Saturday is $2 for adults and $1 for students. On Sunday the admission is $3 for adults and $1.50 for students. Children under 12 free both days.
