The Annual Flint Hill Firemen’s Carnival opened last night with a brilliant display of fireworks.
Tonight’s activities will be highlighted by a Grand Parade. The parade, which starts at 7:00 p.m., will be led along the mile long parade route by Grand Marshal, Miss Fran Garten of Long Island, New York who currently holds the title of “Miss American Teen-Ager.” Buddy Allen, “The Country Giant” will also appear as a special guest. Buddy, who is one of the top entertainers in the country music field, had his own band at the age of thirteen. He later won the Pennsylvania State Band Championship by defeating 63 other bands. He has appeared at the Old Dominion Bam Dance in Richmond, and currently may be heard daily on his own radio program on station WRFL. His latest album was released by the Major Recording Company, and is entitled Meet the Country Giant. Other special guests riding in the parade include the newly crowned “Miss Virginia”, who will be featured on the Pepsi Cola float, and “Miss Shenandoah Apple-Blossom”, Miss Rebecca Harvey. The parade will also include bands, floats, comic entries, the oldest and newest in fire fighting and rescue

[Missions will be the speaker foi the morning service at 11 a m. In addition to a speaker, there will be congregational and special singing in the afternoon. The day will begin at 10 a.m. with Sunday School. Following the morning worship there will be a fellowship dinner at 2 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a covered dish for the dinner. The afternoon service will begin at 4 p.m. The public is invited.
