payment remains the same. A patient may make assignment of an unpaid bill to a physician or supplier, if both parties agree. By accepting assignment, the physician or supplier is paid directly by the Medicare carrier.
The patient is responsible for the first $50 of medical expense incurred in a calendar year, plus 20% of the remainder.
