As predicted by many, the population of Rappahannock County is now, for the first time in decades, on the increase. This increase inidcates that Rappahannock, like her neighbors, is finally on the threshold of population growth.
Despite contrary observations and predictions, the population growth in Rappahannock County within the last few years has been very small. According to Martin, Clifford and Associates, Rappahannock saw a population increase of 30 persons, or 0.6 percent, from 1960 to 1967. Martin, Clifford and Associates states that, although this growth is small, it is significant because it indicates a reversal of the population loss trend of previous decades.
One of the largest influence* upon population growth is transportation. When easy access to urban areas is provided, an ares such as Rappahannock might expect substantial suburban
