“Every producer knows that records on program participation, payments and other ASCS records that pertain to his farm are an essential part of farming operations,” said Chairman H. S. Barksdale of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation (ASC) County Committee, “but many probably don’t know that their records are microfilmed as an extra precaution against loss or damage.”
The State ASCS Office in Richmond works with county offices in recording farm record cards and other records of program participation. ’"Hiis is planned mainly as a security measure, and to safeguard these records. After all while such incidents rarely happen, the building where an office is housed can occasionally be ravaged by fire, and even floodwaters have severely damaged records on occasion, even though we have excellent storage facilities,”
