The November election for tht Virginia House of Delegates will not only be of great signifigance to the people of the 28th district (Rappahannock, Fauquier and Warren Counties), but also to the people of Virginia. Indeed, the winner of this race, whoever he may be, will be guaranteed considerable stature within the inner circles of Virginia politics.
Both candidates, Tom Frost, a Democrat, and Preston Pulliam, a Republican, are residents of Warrenton, Virginia. Mr. Pulliam is a native of Woodville, Virginia in Rappahannock County.
The Frost-Pulliam race is shaping up as one of the key election contests in Virginia this fall. Tom Frost, who has been a member of the House of Delegates since 1952, is currently chairman of the House Agriculture Committee and a member of the Rules Committee. He is in line, if re-elected to be the chairman of the Appropriations Committee, which approves and recommends appropriations to the House of Delegates for the operation and capital outlays of all state agencies, institutions and programs. The chairman of this committee is said to be second in power only to the Speaker within the House of Delegates.
