In the afternoon, we gathered beautiful wild flowers which lay in abundance on the rolling terrain of the Academy grounds. Later, we enjoyed the movies our son Maury had made on their numerous skiing trips to Vail, Colorado, last winter. Sunday night, we were treated to a delicious ring neck pheasant Maury had killed last Fall on a hunting trip in the southern part of the State. Afterward, we drove to a small community known as Manitou Springs and joined in to “hiss and boo” the villian in the melodrama, “The Easiest Way.”
We were told it never rains in Colorado, but would you believe it rained Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Touring started every day at 8:30 in the morning. It was a rainy Monday when we toured the Academy Field House, and the Visitor Center and began to purchase souvenirs. We shopped In downtown Colorado Springs Monday night. It was already raining Tuesday when we awoke so we set out to do more shopping and souvenir buying.
