The marriage ofc Brenda Joyce Hackley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hackley of Amissville to Howard Amos Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Clark of Washington, took place Saturday, July 26, 1969 at the United Methodist Church in Amissville before an altar decorated with baskets of white gladioli, mums and daisies. The Rev. W. A. Layman performed the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Elaine Layman played the wedding music and Miss Janet Hackley sang “My Own True Love” and “The Lord’s Prayer”.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of white satin" with Chantilly lace overlay. It was fashioned with a standup collar, lace sleeves with a ruffle at the wrist and an inverted pleat at center back. The empire waist was accented with a satin belt i with a bow in back and ribbon trailing to the floor. Her elbow - lepgth veil of illusion fell from a satin pillbox crown. She carried a bouquet of white carnations, pompons and ivy.
Mrs. Barbara Williams, aunt of the bride, was matron of honor. Mrs. Sharon Bywaters and Miss Peggy Hitt, cousins of the bride, were bridesmaids. The attendants wore identical floor length gowns of mint green peau de soie with matching headpieces fashioned like the bride’s gown. They carried yellow carnation corsages on white New Testaments.
Miss Edie Mae Hackley, sister of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a gown of white satin and lace fashioned with the Empire look and had a white lace bow in her hair. i
