On June 14 we began our trip out West, after a sleepless night of anticipation. We left our home in F. T. Valley, at 10 o’clock that morning and arrived at the Dulles International Airport at Chantilly, Virginia, at 11:35 km. All three of our daughters accompanied us to the airport. Our daughter, Elizabeth and her husband, as well as our grandson, Joey Jones, flew to Denver with us.

We hurriedly signed in at the United Airlines desk, although we had arrived at the airport more than an hour before departure time. Inside the lobby was a mob of people milling around. Even though the five of us were laden down with film and four cameras, we bought several rolls of film in the gift shop. Amid words of farewell, waving arms, and flashing cameras, we boarded the Mobil Lounger from Gate 10. We were busily scrambling for seats when a familiar voice called to us.
