saddle and fourth place in Large Pony Hunter. Janice Aylor of Sperryville won second place in the English Beginners Class while her brother Pete won fifth place in Junior Equitation Hunter. The 4-H Light Horse and Pony Show in Culpeper is one of the bigger 4-H events held in the area. The competition is great, and riders who win ribbons can be proud of their achievements.

Rappk. Schools

Open August 27

Rappanannock County public schools will open August 27. Public schools in Warren county will also begin their 1969-70 session Wednesday, August 27, with classes being dismissed at 2 p.m. on opening day. The following day will resume the usual schedule. Monday, September 1, will be a holiday.

A pre-school conference of all principles in the two counties will be held at the E. Wilson Morrison school Monday, August 18, and the division conference of all professional personel will take place at Warren County High School August 22.

An Orientation program for all new teachers will be held August 20, and all teachers will begin working at their respective schools August 21.

Cafeterias in Rappahannock Schools will be open on the first day.
