R. Preston Pulliam, the Republican candidate, has had a long and successful career in the insurance business. He is a member of the President’s Council, New York Life Insurance Company; and a member of the Million Dollai Roundtable of the National Association of Life Underwriters: a member of the Estate and Planning Council of Washington, D. C. and a member of the Fauquier Chapter of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
Mr. Pulliam, who can be described as an effective campaigner, has stated that he feels it is time to bring the two party system to Virginia. The 1969 platform of the Republican Party of Virginia, upon which Mr. Pulliam is campaigning, calls for the elimination of non judicial appointments by state judges, better public education, mental health facilities, a state civil serivce system, roads, legislative processes, and a host of other measures.
