Pres. Nelson Burner announced the name of Stanley Settle as Chairman of this year’s Horse Show. A tentative date of May 23 rd has been cleared of competitive shows by the Virginia Horse Show Assoc, and several 4H Clubs. Sim Hutton and two helpers were commissioned to put a new coat of paint on the judge’s stand and the various jumps.
Mr. Howard Morris of the Virginia Highway Dept, was the guest speaker of the evening and gave a half hour review of the August, 1969 flood in Nelson County and the James River basin. The numerous color slides taken the day following the record deluge of 31” in 5 hours graphically depicted the destruction of property.
