The S.C.A. of *R.CJi.S sponsored the annua) Sweetheart Dance on Friday, February 20, The dance lasted from eight until eleven and everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves and the music by “Brutus and the •Roamin'*” * All senior girls were eligible for 'the. Sweetheart Queen title. The queen was selected by the /popular vote of the entire student ‘body, but the winner was not 'announced until halfway through .the dance. Amy Palmer was .’named Sweetheart Queen and •runners up were Susan Fox and 3 Sandra Payne. They were escorted by Arthur Pu41en, Terry »Ramey, and Eddie Wayland respectively. The eleventh grade attendant was Lynn Whitehurst, escorted by Melvin Smith and : escorting Mary Lynn Smelley 'representing the tenth grade was Maury Nichols. . Cil Davis of the ninth grade had Doug Larimer as her escort and Kevin Day escorted the remaining attendant, Jeanne St. Clair of the aighth grade. «.V
In the absence of last year’s queen, Beth O’Bannon, Mr. Neff the Guidance Counselor crowned Queen Amy. The coronation was followed by a special dance for the Queen and her court.
