Burned Tuesday
Mrs. R. B. Rust of Flint Hill lustained First degree burns over an estimated 60 percent of her body while burning trash early Tuesday morning. Apparently her dress caught fire as she was burning a pile of leaves and branches about 5:45 a.m. at her home. Her screams were heard by neighbors Mr. and Mrs. Emory Russell and Mr. Russell smothered the flames with a blanket.
She was taken to Winchester Memorial Hospital by Flint Hill Rescue Squad and transferred to the burn center of the Medical College of Virginia Hospital, Richmond.
Joint Bible School
Vacation Bible School with joint churches of Baptist, Episcopal and Methodist starts Monday, June 15 at the Washington Baptist Church from 9 to 11:30 a.m. through Friday, June 19. All children 3 to 11 years are invited to attend.

July 4th Festivities
By Mary Jamieson The community program which will take place at Rappahannock Library on the 4th of July has received an amazing number of contributions from friends in and out of the county.
“The Candy Man” of Sperryville, Red Smith, is contributing his candy apple machine and the candy. Apples are being given by C.E. Johnson, Jr. This will make possible free candied apples for all who come to the Library on the Fourth.
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department is providing and setting up a big shooting gallery and 10 tables for the antique doll and gun exhibits to be shown inside the Library. Sheriff C.K. Estes is making a Huckly Buck game and an old-timey throwing game. George Muth and T.J. Pillar are contributing horse shoe pitching sets. Tom Reese is wheeling his big cannon'down the
