Dam were brought before the Board by Gen. Daniel Noce who recommended the erection of such structure. There to speak against it was Randy Carter of Warrenton. No action was taken and it was tabled. Fauquier County had sought the support of Rappahannock to limit the dam’s height and Culpeper wanted backing in no dam construction. A report from the State Compensation Board set the salary of the sheriff at $6,500, which is the state minimum; a deputy at $4,925; jailor at $3,635 and parttime secretary at $2,515. Commonwealth’s Attorney’s salary was also set at $6,500 with parttime secretary at $2,200 (the sheriff and C.A. share one secretary). Treasurer’s salary was placed at $7,000 and the Commissioner of Revenue at $6,500. The assistant for these two offices each received $5,160.
Current accounts were recommended for payment before adjournment as well as approval of indigent hospital accounts. Action taken at prior meeting for payment of a hospital bill was rescinded.

There will be a mass meeting of the Rappahannock Republican Party on June 12, 1970 at the AmissviUe Fire Hall at 8 p.m. for the purpose of electing delegates to the State and District Conventions and to conduct any further business that may come before it.
