Washington on August 9 at 10 p.m. According to Trooper J. B. Willis, Jock Rapley Owings of Madison operating a 1964 Chevrolet owned by Linda Elaine Ford skidded on wet pavement and struck a bridge. Damage was estimated at $400.

On Monday at 3:50 p.m. on Route 1002 in Sperryville a second single-vehicle crash occurred and was investigated by Trooper Willis. Jack Roger Gaddy of Culpeper operating a 1966 Ford pickup owned by Crowell Bros. Construction Co. of Lynchburg swerved to miss a dog and lost control of the truck which went over a bank and turned over. Damage was estimated at $700.
