Dear Mr. Gibb:
Thank you very much for your inquiry of July 30 concerning our anticipated schedule for the construction and completion of Interstate Route 66 from Interstate 495 (Capitol Beltway) eastward.
Our present schedule for construction contemplates the advertisement of a project from Route 120 (Glebe Road) to Route 29/211 (Lee Highway) the latter part of 1970 or early in 1971. We are hopeful of having a project from Lee Highway to Rosslyn underway sometime in 1972.
With regard to the remaining section of Route 66, from the Capitol Beltway to^-Glebe Road, design details still remain to be worked out with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority covering rail transit in the median; however, a general agreement has been reached on the ratio of financing between the highway and rail facilities.
