Barksdale of Flint Hill, who has had an extensive career in agriculture and conservation, was selected as the 1971 Outstanding Conservation Farmer of the Year in Rappahannock County. Announcement was made Thursday evening at the annual banquet of the Culpeper Soil Conservation District held at Graves Lodge, Syria. The Soil District is comprised of Orange, Rappahannock, Madison, Greene and Culpeper counties. Mr. Bardsdale’s conservation activities extend far beyond his present achievement. He came to Rappahannock as an Extension Service County Agent and has also served in this capacity in Sussex and Madison counties. He has aught institutional and farm raining in Fauquier County and substituted as a Vo-Ag teacher in he local high school.
