100% shooting average. Senior Ronnie Myers ran the floor attack and Cliff Frye pulled in key rebounds all night. Senior Bill Kilby came off the bench to replace the fouled-out Jordan and pulled down two key rebounds and an all-important steal to round out the Panthers effort.
It was a storybook game with the underdog, supported by an army of fans, battling back and winning on a Ion (23 foot) jump shot as the buzzer sounded.
The floor after the game was flooded with cheering, crying, ecstatic fans as the silent strasburg fans filed out. Coach Ellis was highly pleased with the support and spirit of the school’s students. He remarked that it was more like a tournament atmosphere than anything else. If the team and fans are representative of the school and the school is representative of the county, then Rappahannock has nothing to be ashamed of, and lots to be proud of Friday night.
