OBITUARIES
Lillie Mae Scroggins
Mrs. Lillie Mae Scroggins, 64, of Washington died December 14, 1971 in Front Royal. She was the daughter of the late Middleton Settle and Martha Ann Whorton Settle, and the wife of Charles Scroggins of Washington, Va. who survives.
Other survivors include a son Charles Scroggins, jr.; three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Fincham, Mrs. Edwin Scroggins and Miss Annie Settle, all of Washington, Va.; one brother, Walter Settle of Front Royal and seven grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday (today) in the Washington Masonic Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Campbell.
Clore Funeral Home, Culpeper, is in charge of arrangements.
Wiliam T. Yates
William Thomas Yates of Washington, Va. died Thursday, December 9, 1971 at the home of Mrs. Lena Timbers where he had resided for many years. A native of Rappahannock County, he was 59. He is survived by a sister Mrs. Martha McCune of New York City; two brothers, Lester Yates of Pennsylvania and John Patterson Yates of Staunton. A funeral service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church conducted by the pastor Rev. R. P. Pringle. Burial was in Washington Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clarence Baldwin, John Marshall Barbour, William Estes, Major Freeman, Raymond Freeman and Fletcher Pitts.
