1972 ASC County

Committee Elected

The ASC County Convention was held in the Rappahannock ASCS Office on Monday, December 12, 1971 and the following were elected to the County Committee for 1972: Thomas R. Taylor, Chairman; R. E. Wood, Vice Chairman; Dabney M. Eastham, Regular Member; Earl J. Kilby, First Alternate; and John A. Tappy, Second Alternate. The County ASC Committee is responsible for local administration of Government farm programs such as acreage allotments, loans for eligible crops, and conservation costsharing on agricultural lands. Community Committeemen assist the County Committee in farm-program administration and help keep farmers informed of program provisions. The newly elected county and community committeemen take office January 1, 1972.

Apple Butter Boiled

The Chester Gap firemen held an apple butter boil last week and in spite of the rain and heavy fog whi\h enveloped the mountain the ouHjfrme was favorable. The project netted 136 gallons of delicious apple butter and sales have been good; however, orders are still being taken. Contact Bradley Williams, Chester Gap, if you would like some.
