In 1940, Mr. Scherschel joined the photographic staff of The Milwaukee Journal. He interruped his career to serve in the U. S. Navy during World War 11 and later worked for Life Magazine in the Chicago, Dallas, New York, Tokyo and Washington bureaus.
In 1963 he joined National Geographic, a position which brought him the rewards of world travel.
Scherschel was born in Chicago and spent most of his life in Milwaukee. He is married to the former Miss Eizabeth Harris of South Dakota and they have two daughters, Jennifer and Elizabeth, □
