Editor: The following letter was sent to Col. H.W. Burgess of Virginia State Police Headquarters in Richmond:

1 read with great interest an account in the Rappahannock News of 2 March 1972 of the actions of Trooper Buntin in subduing an armed man without injury to anyone.

Under the circumstances described, 1 consider the firm but calm actions of Trooper Buntin in disarming the man by striking a blow a very great accomplishment, and performed at considerable personal risk to Trooper Buntin.
