Many of your readers will want to know that various wilderness proposals for Shenandoah National Park, including Senator Harry F. Byrd’s Bill S. 2158 providing for 73,280 acres of wilderness for the Park, will be considered by the Public Lands Subcommittee of the Senate Interior and Insular Affairs Committee at a public hearing to be held Friday, May 5 at 10 a.m. — Room 3100, New Senate Office Bldg., Washington, D.C.

Congressman J. Kenneth Robinson has also filed a wilderness bill for the Park in the House of Representatives (HR 9585). However, the House Interior and Insular Affairs Committee has not yet scheduled public hearings.
