Amissville Ruritan Club was called to order on April 19 by president Ted Settle and the invocation by the Rev. Joseph Stirman followed. The group enjoyed a dinner served by the Amissville Ladies Auxiliary.
A report from the education committee disclosed plans for the Ruritan District to sponsor an essay contest. Rappahannock schools would participate and the topic for grades 6, 7 and 8 will be “Why 1 am Proud to be an American.” For grades 9 thru 12 the subject is “Freedom and What Was Its Origin.”
The recent dinner sponsored by the club was declared a success by the finance committee in its report and announcement was made of a $100 contribution to Amissville Fire
