Good turkey season
THE 1972 SPRING TURKEY season ended Saturday May 13. There was a total of 19 turkeys checked in Rappahannock. Seventeen of these were killed in the county. This was by far the most successful season in recent years. Nine gobblers were checked last spring during a season that was interrupted by a fire hazard closure.
Seven turkeys were taken in Rappahannock last Fall. This, coupled with the spring harvest, gives - Rappahannock a kill of 24 for the 1971-72 license year.
