IN 1971 Rappahannock County had four traffic deaths, compared to five the previous year.
Final official tabulation of Virginia’s 1971 traffic deaths stand at 1,118, a decrease of 1.1 percent when compared with the 1,231 of 1970, Colonel H. Burgess, Superintendent of State Police has announced.
He added that this was the second consecutive year in which deaths have been reduced, the first time since 1959 and achieved despite a rise of 6.8 percent in traffic volumes.
Three counties, Giles, Highland, and King and Queen, did not experience a fatality. This was the second consecutive year for King and Queen.
