WE HEAR SO MUCH these days about change. There is change in attitudes, in the models Oscars, there is a speaker who advocates ‘changed lives.’ Let us not forget that change for the better is fine, but change is not always in the best interest of everyone.
It was my privilege recently to attend a meeting of a certain postal group of which I am an honorary member. The speaker advised us of a proposed change that would affect them adversely. Now, can you imagine anything so ridiculous as this, having all mail gathered, even for local distribution, and sent to some distant concentration center where it is made up for individual carriers and letter boxes and brought back to the same P.O. for delivery? Change? For the best? Not to my feeble way of thinking.
