Dam not 'feasible’
VIRGINIA’S STATE WATER Control Board has flatly denounced the proposed Salem Church Dam on the Rappahannock River as no longer “economically justified,” and even some supporters of the project think it may now be dead as a doornail.
In a telegram last Thursday to Governor Linwood Holton, the WCB reported on the findings of its study, which was based on information gathered by the Virginia Division of Water Resources. The WCB and this division were merged in July.
