Farmers can do their part for Conservation by applying for a Conservation practice-on the farm.
The good weather is a time to spread lime and fertilizer on permanent cover or to establish permanent cover. Now is also a good time to get soil samples for 1972 or 1973, before the rush in the spring.
Low-income farmers who meet eligibility requirements may receive up to 80% of the cost of performing Conservation and pollution abatement practices. Farmers are urged to ask about low-income requirements when they file their applications for Cost Sharing.
If the Committee has approved a practice for the farm, owners should report completion to the County Office on Form RE245 mailed when it was approved.
