B. Settle asked: “How do you justify a 25-acre minimum lot? What can you do with this? It doesn’t justify the use of farm machinery. You’re discrimating against the poor man.’’
George Davis said the minimum lot size is five acres in an agricultural zone, not 25, and Baumgardner added that if a man had a 25-acre lot he wouldn’t come under the subdivisions requirements anyway.
MR. AND MRS. Irving Kilby both had questions about subdividing land to give to their children. They thought the regulations too restrictive on this point.
Replied Newbill Miller: “It is the intention of the commission to have a division possible of up to three lots, served by a right-ofway, by a non-developer... Then later, if he decided to be a developer, he’dhaveto bring the lots up to subdivision standards. This would not be a loophole for a developer; I favor such an amendment.”
Maybe a separate provision could be made for giving land instead of selling it, suggested Chris Parrish of Viewtown.
