REFERRING to Rappahannock citizens’ complaints about county taxes, Davis said, “You don’t know what taxes are. Property that costs you $150 a year here would cost you $150 a month in Arlington and Fairfax. “This is a serious matter and a very urgent matter.”
Davis continued: “We’ve got to be constructive about zoning. It’s very simple to criticize; however, being against just to be against is not the approach to take.
“The reason I am very strongly for this is this: If you don’t, two to five years from now, you’ll be complaining about the type of taxes they now have in Arlington, Fairfax and Prince William. Your taxes will be two to three thousand dollars a year instead of a hundred and fifty.
“And it’s not going to be me that’s going to raise the taxes, if we don’t have zoning and subdivision controls, and I’ll point my finger at those who opposed. They’ll be the ones who raised your taxes.
