JIMMY IS A STALWART young Rappahannock County citizen who spent a hard-working summer vacation this year. He saved up enough money to buy the biggest thing he’d ever had in his life, his heart’s desire—a riding mower!
A little over a week ago, that mower was destroyed. Jimmy had stored it, outOf the weather, in a barn. That barn was burned down the evening of September 5. State investigators are practically certain it was a case of arson. They think the same thing about another barn belonging to Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Johnson Jr., which was burned down less than a week previously.
“It’s kind of creepy, isn’t it?” Ned Johnsonasks rhetorically. It certainly is, and more. Above all, it makes you wonder what kind of little cour.ty we’ve got here when things like that can take place.
