“THE NEW farm bill contains provisions which will encourage farmers to produce more grains, cotton and other crops the marketplace demands,” according to T.R. Taylor, chairman of the Rappahannock County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation (ASC) committee.
Taylor outlined the basic job of the farm program agency in carrying out the provisions of the new law; titled the Agriculture and Consumer Protection Act of 1973, and enumerated some of the new concepts in the 1973 bill. He also noted that the 1973 Act, signed into law by President Nixon August 10, replaces the Agricultural Act of 1970, which expires December 31, 1973.
