Mrs. John Early had some technical questions and Wood and Miller took turns trying to answer, concerning lot sizes allowed in various zoning districts, etc. Mrs. Early protested that not enough effort had been made to inform the public of such things, and read from a letter from a friend that suggested some officials “are trying to make a monkey” out of the public.
“I didn’t intend to make a monkey out of you,” Newbill Miller said.
Mrs. Lucio Kilby also complained that insufficient time had been allowed for public study of the ordinances. “They’re almost 100 pages long. I read for eight hours and I’m not one of those monkeys,” she said.
