Dennis Gilbert, an “environmental specialist” from the Highway Department, responded to Estes’s question. “Our division’s policy is that as soon as we get our input from the citizens, we start our inhouse study.”
Gilbert estimated they would complete gathering information for the study file around March -1. A decision would come several weeks beyound that date, he said.
PETE LUKE noted that people whose land might be affected by any of the proposed routes had been in a quandary for several years. “They may have wanted to do something with their property, expand their business or sell the land, but they haven’t known what the road will do to them.”
Mrs. M. L. Biddle wanted to know if the bypass would be limited access. “Can it be built up?” she* asked.
