RAPPAHANNOCK’S Supervisors will send letters to Governor - Elect Mills Godwin, State Senator George Aldhizer and Delegate D. French Slaughter concerning a proposed crossover on Route 211 at Amissville and the existing entrance of secondary Route 642 onto Route 211.
The Highway Department is currently four - laning Route 211 at Amissville. In the design, a crossover between the old road and the two new lanes is located nearly a mile from the entrance of secondary Route 642. Highway authorities say the crossover cannot be placed across from the entrance of the secondary road because site distance and grade would make it unsafe.
AT THE Supervisor’s meeting last week, resident highway engineer Don Askew said that locating the crossover at the secondary road entrance would necessitate ‘‘major work” on the old two lanes of Route
