either repair it, paint the roof and use it, or let the fire departments supervise burning of the building. The county would still own the site and might later bulldoze it for a sanitary landfill, Luke suggested.
Newbill Miller said the county had kept the old school because it didn’t want to sell the land. That was now regarded as a mistake with other county properties that had been abandoned, he said. But Miller agreed with Luke— there is no point in the county \ maintaining the building" without any current or projected use.
Board members noted the site was only two acres , and perhaps a bit small for a landfill.
SOMEONE suggested the building could be used for storage for the school board. But the supervisors" gave up that idea, citing the distance of the old building from the schools and the
lack of security for whatever was stored.
Herbert Foster thought the county might sell the building and keep the land until it wanted to sell that, too, or found a use for it.
