A PUBLIC hearing of interest to Virginia fishermen .will, be held at 2 p.m. on January 12 at the Hotel General Wayne in Waynesboro, according to . Game Commission Chairman Dr. Allan Hoffman. The hearing will be chaired jointly by Dr. Hoffman and Ralph Weaver, Commissioner from the Sixth Congressional District. ’ Items to be discussed on the meeting agenda will include, beginning at 2 p.m., a presentation of die new - proposed trout stream classification system for Virginia. This system is designed to provide information for the formulation , of management plans for all trout streams in the Commonwealth. .
This would include the managing of trout streams according to their potential and should (1) help restore in-so-far as possible our native brook trout fishery, (2) create more diverse angling opportunities for Virginia trout fans, and (3) increase the number of trout streams brought under active management.
