To The Citizens of Rappahannock County:

In a few weeks, the Rappahannock Womens Club will be circulating a petition requesting our phone companies to provide toll free dialing between the 675 and 937 exchanges.In order for us to succeed in this effort we need the signatures of 90% of the subscribers on the above exchanges. The petition will then be forwarded to the State Corporation Commission in Richmond for its action.

Below appears a copy of the petition we will be circulating:

Be it known that as a Central Telephone Company subscriber on the 675 exchange and realizing that a modest increase in basic rate may be necessary, I hereby request prompt cooperation with the Chesapeake and. Potomac Telephone Company to extend my presently limited direct dial, toll-free service to include those Rappahannock County subscribers on the 937 exchange.
