NOTICE TO BUILDING CONTRACTORS
The Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County plans to implement the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 829, Section 36-100 of the Acts of the Virginia General Assembly of 1972 (Uniform Statewide Building Code). This code governs the design, construction, alteration, enlargement, equipment, repair, demolition, removal, conversion, use or maintenance of all buildings and structures. Farm buildings and routine maintenance are excluded from these regulations.
Copies of the codes which apply to basic building, mechanical, plumbing, one and two family dwelling, and national electrical code are available for review in the Zoning Office. A set consisting of ten volumes may be procured from the Virginia State Office of Housing, 1010 James Madison Building, 109 Governor Street, Richmond, Virginia 23219.
Building permits issued on or after September 3, 1974 may be subject to inspection j and enforcement of the code. Builders are advised to become familiar with the code prior to that date.
