$3 haircuts?
A bill of $12 to pay for four haircuts at the County Jail inspired question from Rappahannock Supervisors at their July 3 meeting .
“I only pay $1.75 or $2!” exclaimed chairman Pete Luke. “Maybe I'll go to -jail and get a $3 haircut.”
Sheriff John Walker Jenkins explained that “Earl Horton used to come out and cut their hair for nothing, but since he’s joined a barber shop, the management demands payment. Earl Horton cut their hair for 16 years for nothing.”
When several other Supervisors still joined in Luke’s expressions of amazement, the Sheriff added that he thought the state would repay the county for this expense.□
