Dried flower arrangements will be on sale during these same hours at the parish hall of Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington, Va. Houses to be toured are Laurel Hill, the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Fannon, located at Laurel Mills; Bessie Bell Farm, near Castleton, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Rowland Evans, and Clifton, home of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Rodgers on Route 729 south of Flint Hill.
Laurel Hill, originally four rooms, has been remodeled and added to and is the former Hughes property. Lt. General and Mrs. Daniel Noce purchased the farm in 1950 and in 1965 sold it to the Fannons. The spacious porches boast iron railings from the old Waverly Hotel in Culpeper and materials from other landmarks have been used in the remodeling and renovation. Tea will be served here each day.
Bessie Bell Farm allows Mr. and Mrs. Rowland Evans Jr. and their family to indulge in country living in the shadows of Red Oak and Bessie Bell Mountains. The Evans family purchased the home from Mr. and Mrs. Dan Jacobs.
Siding has been stripped away to allow the old log construction to show on the cottage as well as the beamed ceilings. Architect Albert P. Hinckley Jr. of Warrenton has incorporated the necessary aides for easy country living into the home, and Mrs. Evans has added positive color, startlingly modern, yet appropriate for the old cabin.
