A CIT SPOKESMAN advised motorists how to avoid injuries and accidents caused by flying .projectiles:
• If objects must be carried inside the vehicle put them in the rear floor. Try to wedge papkages in the floor between the front and back seats.
• Never travel with packages in the rear window. They not only block the driver’s vision but are potentially lethal. Any sudden stops could thrust the packages forward into the passenger area.
• Children should never be allowed to travel lying in the rear window.
Entering its third year, the CIT investigates selected vehicle crashes to determine causes of accidents and injuries on Virginia highways for research purposes. Team members include an industrial psychologist, clinical psychologist, Virginia State Trooper and a highway engineer. □
