RAPPAHANNOCK County’s Supervisors agree with their counterparts in Campbell County, that dollars spent do not equal quality education, and “the dollar standard should be replaced with performance standards to encourage localities to meet those standards with maximum efficiency...”
They passed a resolution to that effect at their meeting last Thursday. Ned Jones, clerk of the Board, says he understands 70 per cent of the counties in Virginia have adopted the same resolution. Rappahannock’s Supervisors apparently saw in the resolution a way to express their frustration with state, educational directives; they’ve grumbled about such things before, especially compulsory kindergarten plans.
Chairman Pete Luke said right off that he liked the idea expressed by the Campbell County Board, and so did H.B. Wood. Luke went on to note that while Rappahannock
